Award for Remote Sensing for Floriculture

Unmanned Valley, Greenport Duin- en Bollenstreek, and NL Space Campus have won a prestigious award for their joint project ‘Remote Sensing for Floriculture’ (RSvS) in the field of digital transformation. On Wednesday evening, November 27, the Computable Awards were presented for the 19th time at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. The project, in which an AI model has been trained to recognize disease patterns, won first place in the Digital Transformation category.

A wonderful result of collaboration in the Duin- en Bollenstreek, where advanced sensor technology is used to accurately determine which plants require crop protection products and which do not. This leads to a more efficient and sustainable use of resources, saving costs and reducing environmental impact.

The ‘Remote Sensing for Floriculture’ (RSvS) project uses drones, satellite data, and artificial intelligence to detect plant diseases such as Botrytis in tulips and hyacinths at an early stage. With the help of advanced sensor technology, it is accurately determined which plants need crop protection products and which do not. This results in a more efficient and sustainable use of resources, saving both costs and reducing environmental impact.
